As well as the main shopping area situated in the modern centre of Le Mans it is also worth noting the location of the major supermarkets close to the circuit. They will probably be your main supply line for food and beer if you are camping. There are a number of supermarkets within close proximity of the circuit including a Carrefour to the North and a Super U at Arnage.

Carrefour

This an enormous shop, selling a huge array of food, drink and many other useful items like barbeques and paddling pools! Like many other ‘Supermarches’ across France, the Carrefour is accompanied by a row of smaller outlets including a tabac, various clothes shops, souvenir shop, café and others. There are also cash points here. Carrefour is situated on Avenue Georges Durand (the busy 3 lane road linking the ring road with the Mulsanne straight), approximately ½ mile from the Tertres Rouge corner. Click here for the circuit map. From the main circuit entrance and museum, head north on Rue de Laigne. After approximately 200 yards turn right opposite the entrance to Lay By Expo onto Avenue du Panorama. Follow the road up to the give way at Avenue Georges Durand and turn left. Continue on this road for approximately ½ mile and you will see Carrefour on your right. Alternatively, from the Houx Annexe campsite, follow the road that passes underneath the Mulsanne straight. This will take you parallel to the N23. When you get to a T-junction turn left onto the D142 (Rue de Raudain) and cross over the N23. Take the 3rd left, follow the road down to Avenue Georges Durand and turn right. Continue on this road for approximately ½ mile and you will see Carrefour on your right.

Super U

Super U on the outskirts of Arnage village

This is a medium sized supermarket stocked with a wide variety of food and alcohol and a small amount of non food items including barbeques. There is also a cash point and a petrol station here. To get to the Super U refer to the circuit map once again and stick to the following directions. Head south on the D139 Boulevard des Italiens passing the Maison Blanche campsite on your left and the Bleu campsites on your right. At the roundabout turn right onto the D92 Route de Ruadin and follow the road into Arnage. Cross the railway tracks and bear right at a mini roundabout and at the next roundabout turn right onto Avenue Nationale, which is the main road through Arnage. Continue on this road to the large roundabout and fork left. In approximately 500 yards and just before the junction with the N23 you will see the Super U on your left.
