the remparts
are well suited for street racing
|
|
The circuit is based in the historic
high town of Angouleme and winds its way around the medieval
city walls or ‘remparts’. The remparts effectively
form the infield section of the circuit and serve as a convenient
vantage point over 2/3 of the circuit as well as the beautiful
scenery beyond. Atop the remparts is the start / finish straight
as well as the imposing Cathedral St Julian and at their base
the circuit’s main straightaway can be found strung
out amongst the apartments and villas. The final section of
track is a challenging series of hairpin bends that scale
the remparts up to the finish line. The only way to get to
the circuit infield is via a temporary pedestrian bridge adjacent
to the paddock, however once inside virtually the entire circuit
is reached with incredible ease.
