Place St Martial

Angoulême has a notable shopping district that lies only a few hundred yards from the Circuit des Remparts. The pedestrianised Rue Hergé is at its heart. Heading east from the Hotel de Ville you will find dozens of boutiques and jewellers surrounding the picturesque Place Marengo and Place St Martial.

 

 

Champ de Mars mall

A little further down the hill can be found Place du Champ de Mars where lies the architecturally impressive Champ du Mars shopping mall. Opened in 2007 the mall is predominantly contained below ground level, which leaves the area above to be utilised as public space. In addition to all this, dotted all over the old town, you will find many small retailers ranging from home ware to chocolatiers.
