Angoulême
Circuit des Remparts 2008 - September 19th-21st
Since 1939 the picturesque town of Angoulême
has played host to one of Europe’s most breathtaking
motor races around its historic city walls; the so called
‘Circuit des Remparts’. The event has changed
very little since its origin and today remains a spectacular
throwback to the street racing days of the past. Each year
on the third weekend in September the roads are closed and
the local traffic makes way for the famous manufacturers
of a motoring heyday. The highlight is always the pre war
Bugatti race. Picture over 20 Type 35 Bugattis drifting
their way around one of the tightest and most perilous racetracks
in the world and it is easy to see the appeal.
unrivalled
action on Angoulême's 'remparts'
There is a unique ambience in Angoulême.
The excitement in the many bars and cafes around the circuit
is almost tangible, yet somehow the old town maintains its
laid back approach to life amidst all the clamour of an
international motor race.

Charente
Rally

It is the perfect venue for a relaxing
weekend with plenty of time on Saturday to savour regional
food a drink (the town of Cognac is only 15 miles away!),
stroll around the notable shopping district or follow the
official rally around the beautiful Charente countryside.
Then, after an evening spent mingling with enthusiastic
drivers who will regale you with tales of past races, awake
on Sunday to find that crash barriers and grandstands have
appeared magically overnight readying the circuit for a
day of racing.
